In Oman’s Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa, tiny sea turtles find a caring home.
The hotel, nestled among the nation’s five turtle nesting sites, sees up to 100 turtles returning yearly to lay eggs.
To safeguard these endangered creatures, the resort has employed a dedicated turtle ranger, Mohammed Al Hasani.
After rigorous training in turtle conservation, Mohammed became the hotel’s turtle concierge, overseeing nests’ progress and protecting them from human disturbances.
Thrilled about his role, Mohammed shares childhood memories of rescuing turtles.
“I grew up in Qantab, a fishing village near the resort,” he says. “I would often help turtles caught in fishing lines or nets.”
