Jordan’s King Abdullah II has generously donated to restore Jesus’ Tomb in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.
The announcement came from the Jordanian press agency Petra. The Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, Theophilos III, warmly welcomed the news.
The restoration project is needed due to damage from moisture and candle smoke.
It will be led by the National Technical University of Athens and is expected to be completed by early 2017.
King Abdullah’s donation will ease the financial burden on the three denominations and other contributors.
