Paul Powlesland, an environmentalist and barrister, made history by swearing his jury oath on the River Roding, marking the first time a UK juror has pledged on river water.
A passionate advocate for rivers, Powlesland co-founded Lawyers for Nature to push for legal rights for rivers.
When not in court, he’s hands-on, cleaning and protecting the Roding through the River Roding Trust.
