Councils across the UK are encouraging residents to store their lawnmowers this May to support wildlife.
Started in 2019 by the charity Plantlife, No Mow May promotes letting grass and wildflowers grow to boost biodiversity.
Over 40 councils are joining the initiative, leaving selected parks and verges unmown to create habitats for pollinators and birds.
Wandsworth council is urging its residents to participate, highlighting that private gardens cover 20% of its area.
“Nature isn’t neat,” Warwick councillor Will Roberts said, “but it’s essential.”
