A year after its completion, the UK’s pioneering river restoration on Somerset’s Holnicote estate is being hailed a success.
The project transformed a 1.2km stretch of the river Aller, reconnecting it to surrounding floodplains and creating seven hectares of wetland.
This “Stage 0” restoration aims to boost resilience to extreme weather while benefiting wildlife.
