Salmon have returned to Oregon’s Klamath River for the first time in 112 years, marking a historic moment following the largest dam removal project in U.S. history.
On October 16, biologists from Oregon’s Department of Fish and Wildlife spotted Chinook salmon swimming above the former J.C. Boyle Dam site.
This comeback is a victory for local tribes, including the Yurok, Karuk, and Klamath, who have long advocated for the river’s restoration.
