Renowned chef José Andrés and his organization, World Central Kitchen, have made a tremendous impact in North Carolina following Hurricane Florence.
After serving over 3.6 million meals in Puerto Rico post-Hurricane Maria, Andrés and his team arrived in North Carolina ahead of the storm.
They set up kitchens in Raleigh and Wilmington, two areas hit hardest by the hurricane.
Since Florence made landfall, the team has delivered over 140,000 hot meals to shelters, emergency operations centers, and first responders.
“We serve more than meals; we serve hope,” Andrés said. Despite ongoing flooding, he is optimistic. “The storm is over, and people can start rebuilding their lives.”
