In a surprising yet innovative move, the Kentucky Coal Mining Museum in Benham is switching to solar power.
Owned by Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College, the museum is adopting solar energy to save money.
Brandon Robinson, the communications director, shared that the switch will cut the museum’s energy costs by $8,000 to $10,000 annually.
The project, funded by an outside foundation, involves installing 20 solar panels by Bluegrass Solar.
