Paul from Romania and Ann from Flanders built a unique straw bale house in Sângeorz-Băi, Romania.
Initially, they sought a traditional wooden house but couldn’t find one. They then turned to building a straw bale home after Paul attended workshops in Belgium.
They collaborated with architect Ileana Mavrodin for six months, planning the house through phone and internet.
Despite early setbacks with the builders misinterpreting the plans, Paul found a new crew to correct the mistakes.
The project cost four times the initial 10,000 euro budget due to unforeseen expenses and higher finishing standards.
