Malaysia has taken a major step forward by passing a law that allows children born overseas to Malaysian mothers to gain citizenship.
The Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2024 was approved on October 17 with overwhelming support, securing 206 votes in the 222-seat Parliament.
“This amendment brings long-overdue justice to children of Malaysian mothers married to non-citizens,” said Democratic Action Party lawmaker Syahredzan Johan.
