In Rotterdam, a Dutch city of over 600,000 people, a unique project is taking shape.
Nina Aalbers and Ferry in ‘t Veld, both architecture graduates from Delft University of Technology, are building a house using bricks made from waste.
This innovative idea is brought to life with the help of Dutch startup StoneCycling. StoneCycling creates these unique bricks, called WasteBasedBricks, from construction waste.
Materials include ceramics, glass, insulation waste, and unused clay.These ingredients are sourced within 100km of their laboratory in Limburg.
Nina and Ferry’s four-storey home will be the first to use these special bricks. This project shows the potential of sustainable building practices.
The company ensures the bricks meet market and regulatory standards before mass production.
