Jordan’s Za’atari camp, home to 80,000 Syrian refugees, now boasts the largest solar plant in any refugee settlement.
This groundbreaking project, funded by Germany’s KfW Development Bank at €15 million, has brought 12.9 megawatts of clean energy to the camp.
Residents, previously limited to 6-8 hours of electricity, now enjoy 12-14 hours daily, enhancing their lives significantly.
The solar plant reduces carbon emissions by 13,000 metric tonnes annually and saves $5.5 million annually, empowering the UN Refugee Agency to enhance humanitarian aid.
