Adorable new pudu species discovered: Tiny, cinnamon-colored delight

A team of researchers in Peru has uncovered a new species of tiny deer, marking the first such discovery in South America in over six decades.

These deer, called pudus, are already known for being the smallest deer globally.

However, a closer look by scientist Javier Barrio revealed a unique group among the Northern pudus.

Through genetic and morphological analyses, the team confirmed the new species, Pudella carlae, named after biologist Carla Gazzolo.
