In a promising move towards a greener future, A.P. Moller-Maersk has placed an order for six mid-sized container vessels equipped with dual-fuel engines capable of running on eco-friendly methanol. These vessels, with a capacity of 9,000 TEU, will be constructed by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group and are set to be delivered between 2026 and 2027.
This decision marks another significant step in Maersk’s commitment to environmental sustainability, bringing them closer to their goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040. With over 100 methanol-enabled vessels on order globally, Maersk’s dedication to green fuels is making waves in the shipping industry.
