Air Force captain’s heroic rescue saves fallen climber at half-dome

In a remarkable act of heroism, U.S. Air Force Captain Joshua Haveman, a flight instructor with the 60th Air Evacuation Squadron at Travis Air Force Base, sprang into action to rescue a fallen climber near the summit of Yosemite’s iconic Half Dome.

Despite challenging conditions, Haveman provided vital first aid, fashioning makeshift splints with sticks. He coordinated a rescue effort with park authorities, and the injured climber was safely airlifted to receive further medical care. Captain Haveman’s courageous actions demonstrate the unwavering commitment of our servicemen and women to ensuring the safety of all.
