In a remarkable environmental triumph, India has significantly accelerated its battle against climate change. Recent reports reveal a remarkable 33% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions over a mere 14 years, far exceeding expectations. This commendable achievement is primarily attributed to the nation’s surge in renewable energy generation and an expansion of forest cover.
According to the Third National Communication report submitted to the United Nations, India’s emissions intensity has dropped by an impressive 33% between 2005 and 2019. The country’s rapid progress, including a 3% annual reduction rate during 2016-2019, indicates a resolute commitment to the UN’s climate goals, setting an inspiring example for the world.
