Breakthrough expedition: potential interstellar meteorite found on ocean floor

In a groundbreaking expedition, a team led by Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb scoured the ocean floor off Papua New Guinea for over a week, retrieving more than 700 tiny metallic spherules. Loeb believes these millimeter-sized spheres hail from an interstellar meteorite, a first-of-its-kind discovery.

The spherules, now being meticulously examined in multiple labs, could hold clues to their origin and composition, confirming their interstellar nature. Although skepticism exists among peers, Loeb’s determination and data-driven approach are set to settle the debate. This heralds a new era of exploration, marked by upcoming advancements like the Vera Rubin Telescope, promising further interstellar revelations.
